Natural Baby Bedding

Natural Baby Bedding was written by Kent Pinkerton and he says "Natural baby bedding is an array of bedding materials made to offer a good and deep sleep for your baby. The bedding is made from any of the naturally available materials such as cotton, wool, silk, or linen.

Cotton, which is a widely used fabric, offers good air circulation and high durability. Most baby bedding is made of 100% cotton. It can be machine-washed and dried quickly. Wool is a natural fiber and another excellent material that helps to keep your baby warm. It is also very durable and soft. Wool baby bedding should be dry-cleaned, except if mentioned otherwise..

If looking for a luxurious natural baby bedding, select silk, as it is a natural fiber made from protein and has a beautiful appearance. It is very soft to touch and gives a luxurious look to your baby's bed. Linen is another natural fiber used in manufacturing natural baby bedding.

Most caring mothers prefer cotton and wool products, which are considered the best. Natural baby bedding offers a comfortable sleeping area for your baby in a non-toxic environment. This baby bedding facilitates regulation of body temperature and helps the baby enjoy a good night's sleep.

Natural bedding materials are free from allergens and are made in beautiful colors and prints. Baby bedding is manufactured with great care so as to assure supreme quality, purity, and safety. They are also dust and mite resistant.

Always choose a material that is best suited for your baby and that suits the decor of the room. You can buy natural baby bedding suitable for your baby's cot, crib, or toddler's bed. Baby bedding includes matching quilts, blankets, bed covers, bumper pads, pillows, and comforters.

How to Choose Bed Sheets Effectively

How to Choose Bed Sheets Effectively was written by Lucy Izuogu and she says "Buying sheets is not as easy as it used to be or should be. There’s such a wide variety of styles, colours and fabrics to choose from. You may go to a store wanting plain white cotton sheets but end up so confused because you have so many different types of cotton, that you may go home with the wrong one (in most cases) or end up buying something you don’t want.

The amount of time you’ll find yourself spending in trying to choose the right type of bed sheet can be VERY frustrating and buying online makes this process even harder because you can’t FEEL how soft/rough the fabric is. Frankly speaking, most people would rather spend that valuable time doing something else..

Well, here are a few pointers you should keep in mind when you want to buy sheets for your bed or anybody else’s bed for that matter. These are just a few simple ‘rules of thumb’ for selecting the right sheets. Once you understand these, there’s no reason why you should not be able to choose the best sheets for yourself, your family and guests each and every time. You can literally order online as though you went to the store in person.

So here we go…in order of importance, here's what you should look for when shopping for sheets:

1. The Weave

The very first thing to consider when buying ANY type of bed linen is the weave.

Simply put, the weave describes the way the individual fibers of the fabric have been woven or twisted together when the fabric was being made.

For example, if the fibers have been twisted together very tightly, then you get a sturdy fabric, but if the fibers were twisted together loosely, then you get quite a flimsy type fabric.

So in other words, the weave of the fabric will determine how crisp, smooth, wrinkly (especially after wash), cool (on the skin), soft, warm, clingy, durable and even how shiny your sheets will be.

2. Thread Count

The next thing to consider when shopping for sheets, after the weave, is the thread count.

The thread count is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric and can range from 180 to over 2000 threads per square inch. The higher the thread count, the softer the fabric.

When shopping for a sheets look for thread counts of between 200 – 250 as a bare minimum. The higher this figure gets, the more luxurious the bed linen!

Sheet prices are based on the thread count. The higher the thread count the more expensive the sheet.

Caution:
Although a high thread count would normally mean that you get a better quality of sheet, please don’t consider thread count alone when making your buying decision. Remember that you may get a fabric with high thread count but of poor fabric quality and inferior weave! So consider everything if you want to buy the best.

3. Length of Fibers

The best types of sheets have a high thread count, good weave and are made with long fibers. Long fibers give sheets a silky smooth feel.

If you want fabrics that have long fibers and are generally smooth to the touch, you should look for Egyptian, supima and pima cottons. These cottons have the longest fibers around (Egyptian cotton has the longest fibers from group).

4. Standard Fabrics for Bed sheets

Fabrics come in two types; natural and synthetic.

Natural fabrics, like cotton, silk, linen and wool, are made by nature, whereas synthetic fabrics (nylon and polyester) are man-made.

As a general rule, natural fabrics are more breathable and most people find them more comfortable.

Synthetic fabrics are good value for money and are generally warm.

When choosing fabrics, quality is a must. Always look for a good combination of weave, thread count and fibers. Again, to make your life a just little easier, here’s a list of some standard fabrics used in sheeting at present:

Cotton in general:
Excellent for comfort and durability. A natural fabric which is very breathable.

Egyptian Cotton:
The highest quality cottonavailable. Very long fibers, giving it great softness, luxury and smoothness. Feels great against the skin!

Supima and pima cottons:
Also have long fibres and feel soft and smooth to the touch.

Cotton and Polyester combination:
Although the polyester can pill over time, these types of fabrics wrinkle less and are easy to iron. The polyester adds durability to the fabric.

Silk:v As you know, silk is the QUEEN of luxury. This is also a natural fiber. It's value is measure on it's weight (it's called the 'momme weight'). The higher the momme weight is, the better the quality of the silk. An average silk sheet would weigh between 10-12 momme fabric.

Before you rush off to buy sheets for your bed, you must know what size sheets your bed will take! If you don’t, you’ll be wasting your time.

So be prepared. You should also measure the height of your mattress and keep this information with you when you choose your sheets.

Here are the basic sheet sizes you should keep in mind:

Twin: flat (66 x 96 inches), fitted (39 x 75 inches)

Full: flat ( 81 x 96 to 100 inches), fitted (54 x 75 inches)

Queen: flat (90 x 102-106 inches), fitted (60 x 80 inches)

King: flat (109 x 102-106 inches), fitted (78 x 80 inches)

California King: flat (102 x 110), fitted (72 x 84)

Choosing A Loft Bed For Your Child

Choosing A Loft Bed For Your Child was written by Veronica Wilson and he says "If you have a young adult entering college, a loft bed may be an affordable and practical solution to cramped living quarters such as dormitories or off-campus studio apartments and other shared living arrangements. Since loft beds are simply raised platform beds with an area underneath for desks, entertainment centers, or to use as play areas, they are also ideal to maximize living areas for younger children who share rooms. However, it’s important to familiarize yourself with federal regulations and keep the following safety standards in mind when purchasing loft beds or bunk beds for small children:

* Child’s Age and Height: Your child should be at least two years old and at least three feet tall..
* Child's Preference: If your child expresses a fear of high places, perhaps bunk beds might be a wiser choice where one child can sleep comfortably on the bottom bunk while another occupies the top.
* Quality: To avoid injuries look for well-constructed, durable frames constructed of solid pine or hardwoods.
* Placement: Loft and bunk beds should not be placed against windows. Attach to the wall for added safety.
* Mattress: Use the correct size mattress. If it’s too small it can cause the child to fall between the mattress and frame and if it’s too large it can overlap or cause damage to the guard rails.
* Guard Rails: Even though one side of the bed is against the wall, both guard rails should be utilized to ensure the child’s safety. Many injuries occur when the child falls between the bed and the wall.
* Ladders: Firmly attach ladders to the bed and be sure they are sturdy and dependable. Improper installation and poor quality leads to injury.
* Rules and Guidelines: Children should be instructed to adhere to safety precautions at all times, especially when ascending and descending ladders.

Of the many attractive styles and designs of bedroom furniture to choose from, loft beds featuring built-in desks and drawers are the most popular with children and college students alike. They define the child’s personal living area and add functionality to the décor while providing a fun and exciting area for your child to sleep, do homework or play.

Use bedroom planners and take accurate measurements. Many retailers will deliver the furniture within days and set-up in minutes. Shopping online is now safe, easy and convenient and many questions can be answered immediately with live chat or from the FAQ’s section. Remember to wrap it all up with colorful and distinctive sheets, blankets, pillows and comforter coordinates!

Kids Beds – Think Strong, Safe and Space Saving

Kids Beds – Think Strong, Safe and Space Saving was written by Lee Cooper and he says "when buying a new bed for your child you should first of all consider three very important elements – strength, safety and space!

Pick a Strong Bed

Kids beds get used as tents, trampolines and castles nearly as regularly as they get used for sleeping in, so first of all it's a good idea to make sure they can take some rough treatment. Thick metallic frames are often a stronger alternative to wooden framed beds. Similarly, a springy metal underside will hold up much better to a child’s eager pogo jumping than thin wooden slats. To minimise painful bumps and bruises, aim to cover all hard surfaces with padding or cushions..

Pick a Safe Bed

Make sure your child’s bedroom is a safe place to play and sleep by taking the necessary precautions with their bed. If opting for a bunk bed, ensure that the outer perimeter has a large enough safety rail to prevent any nasty tumbles. Bunk bed ladders should be designed with grips in order to prevent any slipping whilst ascending or descending. Also look to avoid any beds with sharp edges or areas where fingers can potentially get trapped such as non-safety hinges.

Pick a Space Saving Bed

Because children’s bedrooms tend to be smaller than adult bedrooms, and kids generally have more stuff in their rooms, they need to offer maximum efficiency of space. Popular space saving solutions are single beds with built-in drawers or a single unit bunk/study area. Single unit bunk beds with an underside study area allow kids to do their homework without taking up any excess space, or can alternatively be used for storage purposes. Single beds with built-in drawers are a fantastic storage solution and have safety benefits by removing the amount of clutter from the bedroom floor.

Other Considerations

You should also look to pick a bed that will bring an element of fun to the child’s bedroom. Choosing a bed that the child enjoys using will encourage them to go to bed a lot more willingly and can save you numerous hours of persuasion and negotiation! There are a number of beds available today that are designed to look like cute animals or exciting vehicles that most children will be happy to sleep in or play on. Alternatively, you could choose bedding that features a favourite cartoon character, football team or any other happy element that will promote sweet dreams and a great night’s sleep!

Bunk Beds Ideas

Bunk Beds Ideas was written by Dean Cecere and he says "Have you ever considered the idea of buying a bunk bed? There are many styles to accommodate your needs whether it be for your home, a dorm room, gift or a variety of other reasons. A bunk bed can be a fantastic solution for a room that has no space to spare. These types of beds can be extremely practical in many different situations such as a home where children share a room, a student dorm room, a business staff accommodation and even save a lot of space at the cabin or cottage.

A bunk bed is found more often than not, made of wood, but can also come in metal. There are many types to choose from depending on what you need it for. Types of bunk beds include L-shaped, triple bunk beds, twin over full bunk beds, standard and loft bed types. Also check out a trundle bed, which may be particularily useful for kids who like to have sleepovers, as it slides out from below your child's exhisting bed like a drawer. These types of bed have the ability to make a small room appear quite large, and feel like that too..

With a bunk bed, many people have a concern with safety. Well, before you purchase one of many bunk bed styles available, you want to make sure that it is sturdy. Some good quality stackable beds can support 400 lbs per bed, which means they are not only for children, they are also great for adults. Please take the time to enquire about the different lengths available for you, as they really are a great way to add space and style to a room in your home.

Bunk Beds

Bunk Beds was written By Peter Emerson and he says "After a hard day, most people want to retire to the comfort and privacy of their rooms. Here, they can relax and lounge about in their beds. It is no wonder that the bed has become one of the most popular and most useful pieces of furniture in the house. Different people are partial to different kinds of beds. But in choosing a bed, most will consider its comfort, its design and how it saves space.

Why tent bunk beds

In terms of space efficiency, a bunk bed is a good choice. It is simple and straightforward in design, yet comfortable enough to hold its own among its more lavishly-made counterparts..

What are bunk beds? Bunk beds are also called double-deck beds. They are two beds stacked one on top of the other, through a specially designed bed frame. This stable frame supports the weight of the two beds so two people can lie down comfortably in the same vertical space.

Using a bunk bed is a good way to maximize a bedroom's floor area. To get to the top portion of the bunk bed, there is a ladder that is either attached to or separate from the bed frame. Bunk beds are often found in children's rooms, residence halls of universities and colleges, ships and trains.

A tent bunk bed is a form of bunk bed. This kind of bed is usually used in children's rooms that have camper themes, though it is whimsical choice for teen and even adult bedrooms. A tent bunk bed is built just like the usual bunk bed, only it has a cloth material draping over it. This material covers the whole bed frame like a tent, thus its name. The added cloth is mostly for aesthetic purposes.

If you are interested in looking for tent bunk beds, you may try searching online. Tent bunk beds come in various designs and colors.

Decorating Children's Bedrooms

Decorating Children's Bedrooms was written by Kathy Passarette and she says "If you are planning on decorating your child’s bedroom, to avoid fights, hassles and headaches, let them be involved in the planning stage. As parents, we tend to put our likes and dislikes on our children. However, children have minds of their own; they have their own likes and dislikes. We learned this when they were two, and the “terrible two’s” commenced. You don’t want to do a “Princess” theme room for your daughter who’s a tomboy, and would rather play baseball than dolls, or a sports theme room for your son, who would rather play chess than catch.

I have clients, a married couple with two young daughters no older than ten years of age. The couple prefer Contemporary decor in their home. They allowed their daughters some new things for their rooms, such as comforters, window treatments and pictures. While the youngest picked something they felt was “appropriate”, and in keeping with their style, they were totally shocked that their oldest liked the Shabby Chic style. To their credit, they allowed her to decorate her bedroom in her choice of décor..

We have to remember that although it’s our house, it’s their room. Children spend a lot of time in their rooms and it should reflect their style, not ours. What a great gift you are giving them to allow the use of their creativity as an outlet to decorating their own space. This is probably one of the first things they can do that will allow them to be an individual. You still need to guide them, as these decisions are made, to watch budget, safety and growth potential. (By growth potential I mean that if your child decides on a style of window treatment and fabric, make sure that the window treatment being picked at age 8, will grow with them to age 16. So maybe the style of the window treatment is okay, but the fabric needs to be more age neutral.)

Think about storage – kids have a lot of stuff, from the time they are babies up through the teen years. Storage and organization should be a number one priority when decorating your child’s room. Luckily, there are so many versatile and stylish storage solutions available now that you and your child should be able to find something that not only fits their room décor, but also is something that they will actually use to keep their room neat.

Include their hobbies and interests in the décor of their room, but don’t make a theme out of it. “Less is more”, and those little touches will stand out. Keep awards and trophies limited to current ones, and keep them in one area of the room rather than spread out all over. Make sure they have a desk to do homework, or write in their journals, with a sturdy desk chair that allows them to reach the surface of the desk comfortably. Finish off with an upholstered chair for reading and adequate lighting for all tasks.

Letting your children be a part of the decorating process of their bedrooms, will not only be adding to the beauty of your home, but you and your children will be happier for it.

7 Feng Shui Fundamentals for Children's Bedrooms

7 Feng Shui Fundamentals for Children's Bedrooms was written by Kathryn Weber and she says "Feng shui is a very popular and intriguing concept in home design today. In addition to the life benefits it provides, it also offers a roadmap, so to speak, of not just how to decorate... but why. In short, it offers you, the homeowner, design with purpose. For a child's room this purposeful design is especially important.

Feng shui gives parents a guide for decorating your children's bedrooms, and perhaps more importantly, a reason for adding particular elements -- something standard decorating practices don't always offer. What does that mean exactly? Well, when it comes to a child's bedroom, feng shui dictates everything from correct bed alignment, proper bedroom choice, essential decorating and design elements, i.e., do's and don'ts (no vicious animals, etc.) for a child's room, even how to influence the child to be studious and well-behaved -- all things most parents would appreciate knowing..

The purpose of feng shui in a child’s bedroom is the same as every parent’s objective in decorating their children’s rooms: to create a healthy, happy environment that fosters education, good health, happy relationships with parents and siblings, and respect for parents. Children and parents can enjoy success and healthy relationships if the environment supports them.

Naturally, children must feel safe, secure, and cared for to thrive. By putting interest and effort into your child’s room, you are showing your child that you believe the child’s space, and therefore, your child, is important. The tips presented here are some of the fundamentals of feng shui for children.

1.Place a happy picture of the parents in the children’s rooms.
This subtly exerts the authority and prominence of the parents as heads of the household. It is also one of the quickest and most effective ways to bring a problem child into line.

2.Align the child’s bed to the widest part of the room.
Make sure your child can see the door from his or her bed easily, but is not in direct line of the door. Your child should also not share a wall with a toilet or see a toilet or bathroom from the bed as this can cause health problems.

Bunk beds are not advised. If possible, try to have a separate bedroom for each child. If this isn’t possible, there are lots of decorative ways to create division and privacy within a room.

3.Create a space for study and accomplishments.
Having a dedicated space, including a desk and lamp where your child can study, demonstrates to your child the importance you place on education and your child’s educational achievement. If this has been a source of problems, make the study position in the NE corner of the bedroom. Also make a place on a south wall, if possible, of your child’s accomplishments. Doing so reinforces that you are proud of your child’s efforts. Display drawings, crafts, awards, trophies, ribbons, or other special items, such as tests with good scores or letters from teachers. Place items here that have brought special recognition.

4.Make the child’s room a healthy place.
Water pictures, aquariums, or sounds of water that can be heard from the bedroom can create an unhealthy environment and may even lead to respiratory ailments. This is especially important if the child has any health problems, particularly asthma.

5.Clear the space so your child can rest and be creative.
Jammed closets and drawers, beds with boxes, shoes and other items underneath must be cleaned out. Creating space and visual openness helps your child to feel less pressured, and more likely to be imaginative and creative. More is definitely not “more” when it comes to kids. Give them a visual rest and clear out all the stuff they haven’t played with in a month or more.

6.Use light, color, and artwork in the room to make a happy environment.
A child’s room should stimulate, not dampen, the child’s spirit. Make sure there is adequate lighting for the desk, for a bedside table, and that windows can be closed off for privacy.

Rooms that are painted blue (unless it’s a bright or light-colored shade) or other dark colors can be depressing and create too much oppressive energy. Bright colors, such as yellows, light greens, purples and pinks are good choices, with yellow being the optimal choice.

Monitor the images your child sees being certain to eliminate images of ferocious or dangerous animals or violence. These are poor symbols for making a child feel safe in the bedroom. Select items for the room that inspire and intrigue a child to learn and that foster his or her sense of security.

7.Position children in the correct bedroom locations.
If possible, boys should be placed in the east or north bedrooms and girls should be placed in the south or southeast or west bedrooms.

Interesting Facts About Electric Adjustable Beds

Interesting Facts About Electric Adjustable Beds was written by Mike Jezek and he says "Unless you've been under a rock the last several years, you have certainly seen commercials or read reviews of electric adjustable beds. You may be wondering what these beds are, how they work, and if they really do provide the high quality sleep that you have heard about. This article will explain a few of the basics of electric adjustable beds.

Electric adjustable beds are not the typical mattress and box springs set up that many of us currently sleep on. Instead of using solid materials, electric adjustable beds are filled with air. Instead of springs, electric adjustable beds have many separate pockets that are filled with air. Since there are no mechanical parts, electric adjustable beds can conform perfectly to the shape of your body, providing all the support you need to get a restful night of sleep..

Electric adjustable beds can have their firmness adjusted on the fly just by pushing a few buttons. Electric adjustable beds have a self contained pumping apparatus that can add or remove air from the bed so that the firmness can be set to any level that the sleeper desires. This is a great advantage over mattress and box springs beds, which are by their very nature non adjustable.

Some of the top of the line electric adjustable airbeds feature separate controls for each side of the bed. This means that partners can set the firmness on their side of the bed to the setting that suits them best. There is no need to compromise on comfort when using electric adjustable beds.

Learn more about how air beds can help you get a better night’s sleep and possibly aid in back problems. Take a look at http://www.free-adjustable-beds-buyersguide.com/simmons-adjustable-beds.html It’s a treasure trove of tips and information that’ll give you the information you need to make the right buying decision.

Practical Tips For Boys Bedroom Design

Practical Tips For Boys Bedroom Design was written by Lee Dobbins and he says "Boys bedroom design can be challenging and unless your little guy has shown a great interest in one thing over the other, chances are you'll still be making the interior decorating ideas from him. With a little openness to your little guys ideas and tastes, you may be able to gather from him what you need to create a bedroom that he'll really enjoy for many years to come.

Unless you have some personal objection, it may be a good idea to start with his favorite color. When you've ascertained the color from him, you have just found which color you should paint his room. Other than that, you'll probably have to do most of the decision making for him. If he hasn't shown a great interest in anything in particular yet, this simply means that he's taking his time deciding and you shouldn't put too many other characters in his room because he may decide that he doesn't like them. The last thing you want is for your child to feel uncomfortable in his own bedroom because he/she doesn't like the pictures you put up in their room.

When you've chosen the color, decide whether you want wallpaper and paint in his room. Paint, more popular, is easy to apply and dries relatively quickly. Wallpaper, well, don't get me started. Hours of scrubbing and pulling at wallpaper because it's seriously stuck to the wall is no fun. Much easier to take a new color and replace the old with the new. Once the color or wallpaper is chosen and on the walls, the rest of your job for your boys bedroom design will be easy to complete.

Other than paint color, a nice decorative touch is to choose something that he's shown interest in and build on that for his decor. If he loves to play with airplanes, maybe put a few model airplanes up in his room hanging from the ceiling. If he loves to play with pianos, maybe a wallpaper border of musical piano keys around the top of the walls in his room will be more appropriate. Whatever his tastes are, it's a good idea to build on those. He will be spending a lot of time in this room as he grows; therefore, he should be comfortable in it. Yet, if he really hasn't shown interest in one thing over another, then maybe just a color is enough for now. Decorative touches can always be added as his developing tastes choose a favorite.

Boys can be difficult when it comes to decorating. They are interested in the world around them and playing and having fun. It can be hard to get them to nail down items that they prefer, yet when they do, these can make for a wonderful boys bedroom design in which your little guy will spend some of the most important years of his life.

Lee Dobbins writes for Home Improvement and Home Decorating where you can learn about dozens of decorating styles and get more great decorating tips.

Decorating Ideas For Kids Bedrooms Beds

Decorating Ideas For Kids Bedrooms Beds was written by Rob Dillon and he says "Kids bedroom furniture can be hit or miss. Parents are torn between style and design or practicality and usability.

Often there are two types of bedroom furniture, themed and a more traditional style.

To start with let’s take a look at traditional beds.

Traditional beds

Traditional kids beds usually perform just one or two functions and don’t lend themselves to a particular theme. As such they are more likely to be a long-term solution rather than a short-term fashion statement and can be categorised into three main areas; pine beds, metal beds and divan beds..

Kids Pine beds

These are kids beds constructed from pine and are usually finished with a natural coloured stain, these are the type of bed you first think of when asked to imagine a kids bed.

Pine is a cheap building material and is strong for its weight. Pine trees often grow fast and as such bed manufactures often source the pine from sustainable forests. Pine trees also produce a lot of branches, these branches can be seen in the pine of the bed as knots.

Kids Metal beds

Metal is a good material for the construction of kids beds, it is strong, inexpensive and can be made into elaborate shapes.

Traditional kids beds are often a combination of pine and metal, using metal for structural support, and pine for the base of the bed.

Metal kids beds are usually powder coated or use a hard type of plastic coating applied to the base metal. Small chips and marks are often easier to spot than on pine beds.

Divan beds

Divan beds are a very basic kids bed in a simple box shape, usually with storage in base. Divan beds are made from a combination of a lightweight wooden frame, MDF and other inexpensive building materials, covered in a durable fabric.

The mattress sits on top of the box frame and headboards are attached as a separate item. As divan beds are basically a box they have the advantage of having a lot of storage space inside them, great for a kids bedroom!

Fun Kids beds

Fun kids beds are often a traditional style bed that use bright colours and fun accessories, such as themed headboards. This creates a more cost effective kids bed as these beds can be made on the same production line as a traditional bed.

Modern Modular (adaptive) Kids beds

These newer and increasingly popular types of bed are usually more traditional in design and are often made from high quality pine. Modular designs ensure a long life span along with adaptability to meet yours and your child’s needs.

So what does modular mean?

In this context modular furniture is that which can be modified or altered. A basic example would be to take a standard single bed and add an extension pack to create any manner of other beds such as mid-sleepers, bunk beds, loft beds etc.

Modular beds are a great way of changing your kids bed to meet their needs. For example, a young child may require a “first bed”, a shorter than normal bed. This bed would suit their needs for a year or two, but then they would require a full size bed. This is where the “Modular” aspect comes into play, an extension is added to the existing bed and the short bed becomes a full size bed. The bed is changed to meet the changing needs of the child and you don’t have to worry about buying a whole new bed.

A few years of growing means that your needs are different. Take the existing low bed and add another extension pack, and the single low bed becomes either a mid-sleeper able to house drawers, desks etc, or a bunked able to sleep two. A high-sleeper/loft kit can also be added to make a towering bed capable of fitting a full height wardrobe, or a full sized desk, or even a futon bed chair under.

Themed beds

Themed beds are those that often relate to a well-known character or object. Themed beds are both exciting and often expensive and can rage from the traditional sports car bed to a Disney© Princess tower bed. The drawbacks of a themed bed can be that they often fall out of style after a few years.

Tips for Choosing Child Bedroom Furniture

Tips for Choosing Child Bedroom Furniture was written by Matthew Gabhart and he says "When choosing child bedroom furniture parents should take great care and consideration in what they pick. Their child will be spending and incredible amount of time in their room, and the things they see everyday will have an impact on their young minds. A kids room is their special place. The things they see in it on a daily basis will inspire their imagination, effect their attitude, and mold how they see themselves.

Colors Make A Difference

As adults, what we see effects how we see ourselves; the same philosophy holds true for kids. The subconscious mind is like a vast super computer that effects us in ways we do not understand. It has been proven through different studies that colors inspire different thoughts without a person’s permission. While bright colors may inspire happy, pleasant thoughts, dark colors may bring more negative thoughts. Extensive studies have been done to determine the thoughts certain colors stimulate. I recommend for parents to research this interesting topic when searching for child bedroom furniture..

Organization Now Could Mean Organization Later

An organized room can cause kids to see the value of organization. Because of the massive amount of time that kids spend in their rooms, everything about it could mold mind-sets that stick with them. If the room is very organized and has a place for everything, then a kid has a better chance of being organized throughout their entire life. This will yield a lot of positive results throughout their lifetime. A room that is thrown together with hand-me-downs and does not have a lot of order, instills disorganization into a kids mind early on. Because of this they could struggle at school and have other problems throughout life.

A Child’s Room Inspires Their Interests

What we see effects our thoughts. When we think of something long enough it effects our personality. Our personality effects our overall life. When choosing child bedroom furniture a great kids bookshelf filled with colorful, beautiful, kids books would be a great way to inspire your child to read. You won’t have to harp on them that they should read. They will just see the books very often, think about them a lot, and in turn, begin reading. On the other side, a T.V. stand with movies and video games underneath will inspire your kids to watch T.V. and play video games. They will see it a lot, think about it a lot, and in turn play it a lot. In this scenario you will have to constantly be on your kids to read, because they will be inspired by the T.V. stand in the middle of their room to watch T.V. The old term “Out of sight, out of mind” really holds true. The opposite “In sight, in mind” also holds true. Whatever you want your kids to think about and dwell on the most should be in their room. They will probably see it more than anything else.

A Kid Should Take Pride In Their Room

A child that is proud of their room will make a greater effort to keep it clean. Give your child a limited choice in picking out their own furniture. Make sure you narrow down the search with choices you are happy with and then let them choose. Teaching kids to appreciate the things that they have is a great value to instill in your children. If there is a certain bedroom set that your kid loves but is too expensive to purchase all at once, allow your kid to work towards it. Let it be part of their Christmas and birthday presents. Let them work and use their allowance to purchase some things. They will take pride in what they have because they had a major part in picking it out and acquiring it. This process teaches children many life lessons. They learn to make choices, set goals, work towards goals, save up for what they want, and appreciate their living space and possessions. All of this from child bedroom furniture. Who would have thought?

Bedroom Furniture Sets

Bedroom Furniture Sets was written by Peter Emerson and he said "Nowadays people not only look out for single pieces of Bedroom Furniture but also for complete Bedroom Furniture Sets, which can create sync between the bed set, and its surrounding furniture. Bedroom Furniture Sets have taken the American furniture market by storm, as there are diverse ranges of Bedroom Furniture Sets available and offered at various price ranges.

However, if there is anything that is not to be missed, that happens to be the solid maple bed sets, due to their elegance, style, functionality and non-toxic features. These Bedroom Furniture Sets are mostly hand-crafted for a long-lasting finish. Most of them usually include a bed frame, 6-drawer dresser, a mirror and two graceful nightstands. They primarily come in three categories, as Ash, Birch and Maple..

These days, traditional six-piece Bedroom Furniture Sets have been replaced by the seven- and eight-piece furniture sets, which are now extremely popular. They are specifically crafted from classy and striking maple, rather than normal particleboard or thin layers. All the furniture in this bed set is polished with a non-toxic finish to provide a sound and tranquil sleep. All the Bedroom Furniture Sets available on the market are said to be free from any defects in material or craftsmanship. Normal Bedroom Furniture Sets usually have nightstands, chests, dressers, vanity cases and a jewelry chest. They are designed to harmonize with each other. Now you can easily find reasonable and fashionable Bedroom Furniture Sets at any furniture store.

Bedroom Furniture Sets can be classified in two categories: according to the finished form or according to the style. Bedroom Furniture Sets in finished form are basically available in oak, pine, cherry and many other forms. As far as styles are concerned they can be chosen from estate, mission, wall unit and many more. In short, we can say that there is something for everyone to choose from, with Bedroom Furniture Sets.

The Modern Guide To Choosing The Right Bed Sheets

The Modern Guide To Choosing The Right Bed Sheets was written By Branka Ilech and he says "Do you realize that you spend a full one-third of your life in bed? That’s a lot of time, and knowing that, wouldn’t it make sense to make sure that you’re as comfortable as possible while you’re there? We’ve all slept on scratchy sheets or those that are so thin you can almost see through them. But a good night’s rest requires a certain level of comfort that simply can’t be had with poor quality bed sheets.

Is it time for you to buy new ones?

Size Matters

If you’re more than twenty years old, you’ll remember when beds only came in standard sizes. You likely had a twin, double, queen or king. But with today’s mattress improvements, you could have a king sized bed, but the standard king sized sheets may not necessarily fit it. Why? Because mattress manufacturers have made vast improvements to mattresses including things like pillow tucks and extra thickness..

Knowing this, you will have to take care when buying your bed sheets, otherwise you might have sheets that won’t quite wrap around the edges, or do, but continually slip off.

Each package of sheets will provide the exact measurements of the sheets, so it’s important for you to pay attention to them. Measure your mattress before you go shopping so that you will be prepared to make a decision. In other words, if you have a queen-sized bed that has a pillow tuck on both sides of the mattress, you may have to buy king sized sheets!

Thread Count

Have you ever had the privilege of sinking into a soft bed and wondering how in the world it was so comfortable? Was it a new kind of fabric softener? A perfectly worn in mattress? In all likelihood, it was the sheets!

The thread count is what will determine just how soft your sheets are—the higher the thread count, the more comfortable your sheets will be. Sometimes called the TPI, this factor measures how many threads are used per every square inch of fabric. They can range anywhere from about 150 all the way up into the thousands. In general, you should always avoid any sheets that have a lower count than 200 because they won’t feel good on your skin, but scratchy and uncomfortable. If you buy sheets with a thread count of over 250, you should have a pretty good night’s sleep.

Material

The type of fabric that you select when buying your sheets will make a huge impact on your comfort level. And with so many materials available, you should think hard about what type of sleeping experience you desire. The most popular choices are cotton, flannel, and silks and satins.

Cotton is by far the most popular because it is snuggly in the winter and cool in the summer (although they have to be warmed up in the winter first). There’s just something about sinking into a bed with high quality cotton sheets! In addition to being comfortable, manufacturers tend to produce them in more styles and colors (than other sheet types) to keep up with the consumer demand.

A winter just isn’t complete without warm flannel sheets. Most people exclusively use flannel sheets in the cold months, because they will become “sweaty” in hot ones. In addition, many manufacturers have begun to produce flannel comforters and blankets to match the patterns on the sheets.

Finally, a silk or satin pair of sheets is considered the ultimate in luxury. They are silky soft and will keep you from sweating in the summer. You can literally slide into bed and if you have a satin or silk pillow case, lay your head in pure luxury. The only downside to satin and silk sheets is that they tend to slide off of the bed if not fitted properly.

What about you? Are you a cotton person or silk? Do you want a frivolous thread count, or will 250 do? Think about your options carefully before you shop for bed sheets and then enjoy your choice!

The Benefits of Waterbed Sheet Sets

The Benefits of Waterbed Sheet Sets was written by Kevin Stith and he says "It is a good idea to purchase a full set including a comforter when buying waterbed sheets. Buying waterbed sheet sets is more economical than buying all of the components separately. Getting a comforter along with the sheets allows for more versatility with the bed and keeps the owner from having to buy a separate blanket for use during the cold months of the year. Also, it is much easier to purchase a full sheet set that includes a matching comforter than it is to find a matching comforter separately. Waterbed sheet sets are available in all major fabrics and for all sizes of waterbed.

The unique styling of waterbed sheets is something that necessitates purchasing them in sets. Instead of buying the fitted sheet separately from the flat sheets, as is often done with conventional sheets, waterbed sheets often come with the fitted and flat sheets connected to each other. With many waterbed sheet sets, the flat sheet is sewn to the center of the foot of the fitted sheet. This makes it easier for people to make the bed, as they do not constantly have to tuck the flat sheet into the foot of the bed. This is an added advantage for waterbeds with wooden frames because they often leave little room for sliding hands and fingers around the mattress to make the bed. Another unique feature of waterbed sheets is that the fitted sheet often has corner flaps that hold the sheet in place and keep it from slipping while people sleep on it.

It is advisable to buy a sheet set that includes a comforter. A matching or complimentary comforter adds style to the sheet set and provides warmth on cold nights. It is easier to buy a comforter with the sheets than it is to find one that matches, especially for sheets with unique colors or patterns that may be difficult to match. Another advantage to buying a waterbed sheet and comforter is that they are usually less expensive when purchased together, as main reason that sheet sets are sold is to provide buyers with a good deal. When purchased all together, sheet sets can save the buyer almost a third of the cost of the all of the components bought separately.

Waterbed sheet sets provide convenience and value to consumers. They feature all of the things that waterbed owners need for their bed in one package, and a waterbed sheet set and comforter provides even more value.

Water Bed Sheets provides detailed information on waterbed sheets and discount waterbed sheets, as well as waterbed sheet sets, sizes and materials. Water Bed Sheets is the sister site of Down Comforters Web.

Iron Bed Frames

Iron Bed Frames was written by Ken Marlborough and he says "A bed frame makes a bed more comfortable by supporting the mattress and the box spring without a footboard or headboard. Bed frames can be made of wood or metal. Among metal frames, there are different types of frames made up of iron, steel, brass or a mix of one or more metals.

Iron bed frames are mainly used as a support for iron beds, though they can be used with other beds also. They are available in many styles and price ranges. There are certain companies which produce handmade iron bed frames. They are generally quite expensive..

There are several companies which mass-produce iron bed frames. They are less expensive than handmade iron bed frames. Hence, factory-made iron bed frames are quite affordable. There are certain companies which make bed frames on order. They will make an iron bed frame to suit your requirements. They could cost you a few hundred dollars, and if the iron is of superior quality and you are going for style and design to make it a part of your décor, then the price of an iron bed frame could into the thousands.

There are a number of dealers that offer to sell bed frames online. Once you purchase them online, they are shipped to you. But there are many customers who would like to visit a shop, showroom or factory outlet to have a look at an iron bed frame.

Pure iron bed frames are rare now; even wrought iron bed frames are not very common, as they are relatively expensive. Iron bed frames are durable, but take care that the patches of rust on them do not spoil the ambience of your bedroom. The good quality iron bed frames have anti-corrosive qualities. But if that is not the case with your iron bed frame, then coat it with anti-corrosive paint at regular intervals.

Iron Beds provides detailed information on Iron Beds, Wrought Iron Beds, Iron Dog Beds, Iron Bed Frames and more. Iron Beds is affiliated with Custom Crib Bedding.

Choosing The Right Bed Frames

Choosing The Right Bed Frames was written by Ammy Johnson and he says "Bed frames are an incredible part of the process of building a bed. Most don’t realize the vast number of options that you have. A quick search though and you are sure to have hundreds of styles, sizes and types to consider. But, how do you choose and what differences does it really make? There are some important considerations for this purchase, but overall, the needs and desires that you have also play a role in what you decide on. Often, just browsing through the options can help you to decide.

Selecting For Quality First

No matter what type of bed frames you do end up purchasing, you’ll want to consider the quality of them. If you select a steel bed frame, you need to know how much weight is can support as well as how it is built. If it is a simple model that is weak, you may be looking for a new frame within just a few weeks or months. But, if you purchase one that has quality to it, and possibly even a warranty of some type, you’ll be able to secure the frame that fills your needs as well as having the long lasting qualities that are quite important in a mattress and bed frame..

Considerations For Your Needs

The right bed frames will depend on several key elements. For one, you probably need a bed frame that is strong and study. But, you may also have a style of bed that interests you. If there is a type of bed that you are after, for example, you may be interested in a platform bed instead of a standard model; the frame must meet this need. In addition, you’ll need to take into consideration whom the bed is for. A child’s frame can be purchased as a bunk bed set or even with considerations for their size. Still, there are plenty of other options out there.

It is quite important that the frame that you do purchase fit the bed that you purchase. For example, you need the frame to adjust down or up to the size of the mattress you are purchasing. A frame for a queen sized bed doesn’t help you at all if you have a king sized bed or even a twin size. Many frames will be able to adjust to one size up or down, though. Check this out before purchasing it especially if you want it to be flexible.

Remember, bed frames are the frame of your bed. They are required to provide your body and your weight with a place to rest. The higher the quality of the frame that you purchase, the more likely you are to find your bed relaxing and not worrisome. With so many types on the market, you may have to invest in a few minutes to consider your options. That’s okay because the end result is that you get the bed that you want, in the style and color that fits you as well as having the security and safety of a quality product.

Baby Bedding

Baby Bedding was written by Randy Wilson and he says "When you choose a baby bedding, choose the one which can guarantee optimum baby bedding safety and coziness to your baby. The best fabric for the baby would be 100 percent cotton. Below are descriptions of the different types of nursery bedding for each type of furniture.

Crib Bedding: Until the baby is one or one and a half years old, the crib is its ideal bed. Cribs are of many different types, but they all need to be strong and durable. You could choose a standard crib, or go for a more expensive one such as a convertible or portable crib which would be ideal for traveling. It is best to always choose a crib from a reputable company..

Bassinet bedding: Bassinets are suitable for the baby for the first 3 or 4 months. A perfect bassinet will have a soft cuddly mattress, a small little pillow and a blanket. A bassinet should be made of soft material with preferably the color blending with the baby’s room.

Cradle bedding: Cradles have a lovely rocking motion which makes sure that the baby gets a sound sleep. Light colored cradles are preferred by parents because they look nice and you can notice when they get wet.

Baby blankets: Baby blankets should be of soft material and must be non toxic. Today there are many types of blankets to choose from that will be soft, smooth, and pleasant smelling with attractive and eye pleasing colors.

Bedding for the baby could be different for a boy or a girl. They could be gender neutral as well. The color combination and the cute looking cartoons are common to both the gender.

Normally for the girls, the baby bedding is replete with shades of pink, light blue and purples. A baby girl’s bed is laid out like a princess. A baby boy’s bed is sport oriented. You could see baby bedding for boys themed around superheroes, WWE personalities or baseball stars. The colors tend to be darker and bolder for boys.

As pointed out above, it is not a hard and fast rule for the baby bedding to be in a certain set of preferences for baby boys and girls. In fact you will see a lot of neutral nursery bedding themes with regard to cartoons like Disney or Popeye characters or cute animations.

The kids are too small to understand the difference about having gender specific cartoons and animals and they are attracted to anything which pleases their eyes and make them smile. It is just that when they get a little older, little boys would feel a little awkward having his bed done in pinks and pastels.

When baby girls grow older, their beds could have blinds with the curtains hanging on rods above. This gives the bed somewhat a princess bed kind of appearance. Not that the girls would be complaining!

Bedding is one interesting avenue where there are a lot of options in store for the parent from choosing the kind and texture of sheets, the choice of colors and baby bedding patterns.

While purchasing a baby bed it is up to you if you choose a gender neutral baby bed or something which would make her feel like a princess or make him feel like a superhero.

Tips on Buying Infant Bedding

Tips on Buying Infant Bedding was written by LynnMarie S. and she says "Infant bedding is a broad category with a variety of products such as crib bedding, bassinet bedding, cradle bedding, Moses basket bedding, portable crib bedding, round crib bedding and Stokke crib bedding including other infant beddings such as receiving blankets, quilts, and more.

The most important thing you want to remember when purchasing infant bedding is that you buy the correct infant bedding for the item you wish to use the bedding with such as you do not want to try to use a cradle sheet on a regular crib. The size of the infant beddings is very important and should fit the product properly to ensure that is does not come loose and allow your little one to become tangled in the crib sheet or other accessories. Accidents can happen when you are using improper fitting infant bedding..

Infant bedding is designed to be safe and comfortable to give your baby the best nights sleep ever including the mattress. However, you also need to make sure that the mattress is not too soft enough for your baby to suffocate. Newborns are not able to turn over yet and if a mattress is so soft, they could suffocate the same goes for bedding that comes loose from the mattress.

Choosing the best and proper fitting infant bedding has to do with which type of product you are going to let your baby use for sleeping such as a crib or bassinet. You may even wish to have more than one item, the crib for the nursery and a bassinet or cradle for another room in the house. No matter which type you are using, you need to measure to ensure that you find the proper fitting sheets so they do not slip while baby is sleeping.

You can choose to purchase complete infant bedding sets, which include the fitted sheet, quilt and other accessories to enhance the beauty of the room. However, you will probably desire to have a few extra sheets for the time when these are in the wash. If you do, you need to be sure that each fitted sheet you purchase does fit properly.

Some choices you have when you are searching for infant bedding are name brands that you know you can trust such as Glenna Jean, Baby Martex, and Lambs & Ivy among many others. These wonderful companies are names that you can trust to create wonderful infant bedding that fits properly and is safe and comfortable for your baby.

Remember, if you do wish to purchase items at a discount try not to ever buy irregular fitted sheets for your baby. These are not always the best buy just because they are cheaper. If the irregular infant bedding does not fit properly, your child could be in danger of suffocation and the few dollars you saved, you in fact place your baby in danger.

When in comes to infant bedding it is best to purchase items that you know will be perfect for the type of products you own and never try to make fitted sheets work that are too small or too large for your crib, bassinet, or cradle.

Make Sure You Buy The Right Futon Bed Mattress

Make Sure You Buy The Right Futon Bed Mattress was written by Robin OBrien and he says "Before you go out and buy a futon bed and mattress make sure you buy a futon bed mattress that best suits your needs. Buying a futon bed can be a cheap alternative to buying a sofa bed, but if you don't know exactly what futon you want, you may live to regret it.

Futon beds have become increasingly popular. These dual purpose pieces of furniture are great when you don't have much space, or if you want a sofa that can be occasionally used as a bed for guests. Futon beds also tend to cost less than the more traditional sofa beds. However before buying a futon bed and mattress you should decide exactly what function the futon bed will be put to use..

First, futon beds tend to come in two varieties; a bi-fold frame or tri-fold frame. A bi-fold futon bed is where the frame folds the mattress in half; down the middle, lengthways. A tri-fold futon bed is where the frame folds the mattress into thirds, widthways; one third forms the seat, one third the back, and the final third folding over the back or underneath the seat. When folded, the bi-fold futon bed mattress has a wider seating area than does the tri-fold futon bed mattress. The bi-fold futon looks much more like a traditional sofa, whereas the tri-fold futon looks more like a two seat sofa. If space is very limited you may want to consider buying a tri-fold futon bed mattress, but if not, the bi-fold futon bed mattress usually looks far more pleasing to the eye.

Secondly, it should be borne in mind that it isn’t the futon frame that provides the comfort when either sitting or sleeping on a futon: it is the futon mattress that provides the comfort. A futon bed mattress made for a tri-fold futon frame is not as thick as that for a bi-fold futon bed frame. Therefore, if you intend to sleep on your futon regularly you might be best to buy a bi-fold futon bed mattress: a thicker mattress tends to provide more support. But if space is at a premium and you will only occasionally sleep on your futon best, than the tri-fold will certainly suffice.

The best futon bed mattress is the one that best suits your requirements. Consider the space you have available, and what will be the main function of the futon bed mattress. If the futon is going to be used regularly for sleeping on, then most consumer reviews of futon beds tend to favour the bi-fold futon frame and mattress. Finally, always buy the best you can afford. There are many top rated futon bed mattresses to choose from. You can find them in many department stores these days, or you can find many makes and models of futon beds on the internet. Remember, know exactly what type of futon bed mattress you require before you go out and buy one.

A Futon Bed Sofa Is A Great Investment For The Family Home

A Futon Bed Sofa Is A Great Investment For The Family Home was written by Andy Maingam and he writes "I never knew what a futon was until a friend of mine set me straight. A futon is what I have always called a sofa bed, only they are better quality and these days and really do look like decent settees when not being used as beds. So simply put, a futon is a couch which turns into a bed when unfolded. There are lots of types of futons around, often referred to as futon beds, and they can be great practical furniture items for many a home.

The western futon is loosely based on the Japanese original futon mattress, which unlike the futon bed, does not double up as sofa and is stored away when not being used. When you consider the tiny spaces that many Japanese folks live in, you might be surprised to learn that they don't use the space saving futon-sofa concept, but then the layout out and living styles of the Japanese are quite different to the western lounge, and therefore the futon-bed is rarely considered..

If you use the futon bed sofa occasionally as a bed and just as a backup for when friends or family members stay over, then you may not give too much thought about the quality of the mattress. If it's used as a bed settee more often than not, then most people these days prefer to choose the all natural 100% cotton Futon mattresses, as these are supposed to be much healthier and environmentally friendly than synthetic and spring based mattress types.

Students, singles, and folks living in smaller dwellings find the futon bed a great space saver, but many families consider them to be a great investment for the family home too and especially those with young or teenage children, as an extra bed always comes in handy for those sleepovers.

If you are considering a futon bed sofa you might also want to purchase a futon cover at the same time, as this will protect your mattress keeping it looking new for years to come. When shopping for a futon slipcover, make sure you pick the right fabric. There is a wide selection of futon slip covers on the market and you'll surely find one that suits the theme of your room be it in a classic, contemporary, eastern, western, or modern style.

So, when shopping for a futon you need to be armed with 3 core questions.

1. The frame. Do you want wood or metal? also consider the size and design.

2. The Mattress. The filling, comfort and use. If your futon mattress is likely to get folded a lot, it is important to purchase one that is very flexible.

3. The cover. Style, softness, designs. (Remember, you're never stuck with one cover)

You don't need to be an expert on the engineering of the futon bed sofa, nor do you need to understand about the best mattress or covers. So long as you keep these 3 points in mind when you go shopping for a bed sofa, the store experts will be able to assist you in finding a modern sofa bed that specifically suites your needs.

What Qualities Should You Look for When Buying a Futon Bed Mattress?

What Qualities Should You Look for When Buying a Futon Bed Mattress? was written by Robin OBrien and he says "Buying a futon bed is a great choice. A futon bed can be used during the day as a sofa and makes a great bed for sleeping on. However, before buying you should know what futon bed mattress qualities to look for.

It isn't the frame of a futon bed than provides the comfort; it's the futon bed mattress. If you haven't yet bought your futon bed you should be aware that futon beds come in two forms; bi-fold and tri-fold. A bi-fold futon bed folds the mattress in half whereas a tri-fold futon bed folds the mattress into thirds. This means that a tri-fold futon bed mattress isn't as thick or as supportive as a bi-fold futon bed. Therefore, if you're going to be using your futon a lot for sleeping on, then a bi-fold futon bed mattress is a better choice..

A futon bed mattress can be defined with the following qualities: weight, firmness, rigidity, and flexibility.

A lighter futon bed mattress is a good choice as long as it gives the comfort you want. If you're planning on using your futon mainly as a bed then a heavier futon mattress is usually going to be best option.

Firmness is a measurement of the “feel” or "give" of the mattress when used as a sleeping or sitting surface. This quality is what people define as 'comfortable'.

Rigidity is the ability of the futon bed mattress to retain its shape along its edge when being used as a bed or sofa. Rigidity of a futon bed mattress is more important when the futon is being used mainly as a sofa.

Flexibility basically defines how easy folding the futon mattress is going to be. If you are going to folding the mattress daily from sofa to bed back to sofa again, then buying a futon bed mattress with a lot of flexibility makes sense.

Futon bed mattresses are made from a variety of materials. The different materials used in futon mattresses will directly affect the four qualities of weight, firmness, rigidity, and flexibility. The following is a rough guide as to the qualities of futon mattresses made from 100% cotton, cotton and foam, cotton and polyester, 100% polyester, and innerspring.

Futon bed mattresses made from 100% cotton are at the heavier end of the scale, as is its firmness and flexibility. However, the rigidity is quite low. A futon mattress made from a mixture of cotton and foam is much lighter and less firm than that of one made from 100% cotton. The rigidity of a cotton and foam futon mattress is quite high, so is ideal for futons that are going to be used mainly as a sofa. A futon mattress made from cotton and polyester is also light and not too firm. Its rigidity is less than that of 100% cotton or cotton and foam mattress. However a futon bed mattress made from cotton and polyester is quite flexible. A futon mattress made from 100% polyester is by far the lightest of all; it also rates well for firmness and rigidity. A futon bed mattress made using inner springs is by far the heaviest and would only be used when the futon is almost always used as a bed. As you might expect, the rigidity of a futon mattress using inner springs is excellent. The flexibility of an inner spring futon mattress is quite poor, but you would only really buy this type of mattress if the futon is going to be used as a bed most of the time.

Futon beds are a popular choice for many consumers due to their flexibility of function. Before buying a top rated futon bed mattress make sure that the qualities - mentioned above - of the mattress are what you require. If you know exactly what you want before you buy you are going to avoid being disappointed with the purchase of your futon bed.

Tips On Purchasing Your Futon Bed

Tips On Purchasing Your Futon Bed was written by Dean Cecere and he says "There are many types of futons, also known as a futon bed, and they can possess many advantages for you and your home. They are very versatile, and can be changed from a bed to a couch usually in a very short time with little effort at all. That is basically what a futon bed is: a pece of furniture that can be used as either a bed or a sofa. They are usually very affordable and can be purchased as a set. Futons, otherwise known as futon beds, are usually made up of a mattress, a futon cover, and a frame.

The futon mattress of a futon bed is usually not as thick as a regular bed mattress, and can be filled with foam, cotton, innersprings, polyester and/or viscoelastic foam. They are somewhere between a mattress and a mattress topper. These can be on their own or layered to provide a nice level of comfort and durability, and are usually precision tufted to keep the contents of your futon mattress from shifting. Of course, the more you pay, the higher quality mattress you can expect to get..

The frame of a futon bed, however can be pretty much whatever you want it to be. They can be made of wood, such as oak, pine, maple, and others can be made of metal or rattan. Whatever they are made of, you can be sure to easily find one with a great design and that is stylish enough to fit the decor of your home to a "T".

The thing about the futon bed is that they can be a great solution to any office, dorm room, bonus room or any other room where space can be a concern. They are fantastic for a home office, because they can transform your home office into an extra bedroom in very little time to accommodate your house guests. Most futons are either bi-fold or tri-fold, which basically describes the number of flat surfaces that make up the futon. When you pick out the futon bed for you, make sure you open and close it, because you want something that effortlessly converts from a bed to a couch for you. After all, who wants to struggle with a heavy mattress and frame when you are ready for bed? The easier the better. So whatever look you go with, make sure the design is convenient like a futon should be.

Traditional Futon Beds

Traditional Futon Beds was written by Carl Walker and he says "Futon is Japanese traditional furniture, basically a mattress that makes up a bed which is still commonly used today. Futons first appeared as weed-made rags in ancient Japan. A traditional futon set usually costs under 10,000 yen (around$83) sold at specialty stores called futon-Ya in Japan and other department stores.

A traditional Japanese futon set generally consists of a mattress called a shikibuton wrapped in Shikifu or sheets, a comforter called Kakebuton covered with a kakebuton cover, blanket called môfu, and a pillow called makura. The makura is usually filled with beans, buckwheat chaff, or plastic beads. The 4 to 5 cm thick futon itself is flat, having a fabric exterior stuffed with cotton and/or synthetic batting..

In Japan, there is a variety of futons available depending on the season. For example, futon may be made of feathers, which is light and comfortable during summers. Thick and heavy futons may otherwise be used in the summer season.

Futons are designed to be laid on Tatami - a traditional Japanese flooring created from individual woven straw mats of uniform size and shape, bordered by brocade or plain black cloth, and packed with straw. Styrofoam may also be used with the recent ones.

The traditional futon, when not in use, can be folded away and stored in a closet called oshiire, which has sliding doors and is usually divided into two shelves. The futon is generally stored on the upper shelf, and since Japanese homes are typically small in size, a room may be used for multiple purposes such as functioning both as a living and dining room. The futon quite comes in quite handy when considering this since it can be easily stored away.

The Western Transformation:

The futon become popular in the United until after World War II. In the 1960s, handmade cotton pads were used by hippies, students and health enthusiasts as alternatives for conventional beds. The first significant transformation, about a decade later, was the introduction of convertible frames which turned the futon into a bed-cum-couch furniture.

By the 1980s, the popularity of the futon had reached its peak in the United States and other western countries, and people started buying it in large quantities. The transformation continued with the introduction of components such as innersprings, pocket springs, coil, foam and polyester mattresses, as well as electric frames with massagers. The futon had become considerably westernized towards the end of the decade that it became almost hard to recognize a Western-style futon as a “futon”.

The popularity of the futon also spread to the country of its origin, and top Japanese futon manufacturer, Maruhachi Mawata, started manufacturing futons resembling the western style in 1997. Older generation of Japanese still very much use the traditional futon but younger people prefer the comfort, style and added features of the western style. Incidentally by the year 2001, there was a 60 percent increase in the use of western style futons and beds in Japan.

Platform Beds

Platform Beds was written by Peter Emerson and he says "Platform beds, as the name suggests, are beds that are supported by a thin or narrow strip of wood or any other material. These beds have no head or footboard, which a traditional bed contains. Platform beds are preferred by people for their firm sleeping surfaces. They are positioned lower to the ground and serve as a storage space for small houses. Usually platform beds rest on a rectangular surface, but they sometimes have small legs at the four corners.

Unlike a traditional bed that has a spring mattress, a platform bed’s thin surface holds a thin mattress and sits low to the ground. The cost of a thin mattress is much less than that of a spring mattress, and bedding is minimal saving the buyer even more money. They are usually made of hard and durable wood and appeal to those who want to give their bedroom a minimalist look. The beds have a sleek look and are a self-contained unit. One can build a wide plank around the bed to use as a bench or a stand. Such beds are more common in eastern countries as they emulate an oriental look. One can also construct a headboard to function as a shelf for a lamp, books or other items.Platform Beds.

The selection of beds for your personal space can be overwhelming sometimes. When you have a small room platform beds are an ideal solution. The space under the platform can probably store your bedding and pillows. The beds are extremely comfortable, and their simple look lends an elegant charm to the room.

The Benefits of Wood Platform Beds

The Benefits of Wood Platform Beds was written by Elizabeth Morgan and she says "Wood platform beds are beds that have no box spring and are made out of wood. Platform beds are great for complementing any décor, but are especially well suited for rooms that are going for a simple feel. When these beds are made out of wood, the effect is that much more grounding. The proliferation of feng shui ideals have made platform beds a high-demand item among those going for a “Japanese” or “Zen-like” energy in their home. The low physical profile of wood platform beds go very well with other low-set furniture such as low coffee tables, dressers, and other bedroom furnishings.

Wood platform beds can be made out of any kind of wood. The most popular are cherry, teak, rosewood, mahogany, maple, dark walnut, pecan, honey oak and others. Any wood platform bed frame can be made of a lesser wood, or even particleboard, and then overlain with the veneer of a higher quality wood. That way, you can get whatever feel you are going for, without spending the necessary thousands of dollars for the real thing..

However, if you’re the one who just can’t seem to forget that the veneer is just a mask for a lesser wood, you’ll have to shell out for the real thing.

Wood platform beds take on a wide variety of sizes and forms. You can obtain any size bed from a single or twin, double or full, to a queen, king, super king, or California king. These beds can simply be flat surfaces or sets of slats on legs, or they can be full-on beds with headboard, footboard, and canopy. They can have simple, clean lines, or they can boast more of a flourish and sweep.

Platform Beds Info provides detailed information about contemporary, Japanese, discount, and wood platform beds and platform storage beds, as well as platform bed frames and plans. Platform Beds Info is the sister site of Futons Web.

Evolving History of Platform Bed

Evolving History of Platform Bed was written by Jeff Cai and he says "As far back as the Neolithic period, man has been sleeping on a bed, or at least, has had a designated area for sleeping. There are all types of bed styles that seem to go in and out of style. When the style is revived, it is usually reborn to fit contemporary tastes and needs to suit the time. Surely, at one point in time, somebody decided to raise the sleeping area off of the ground to prevent stray animals or insects from finding a warm body to curl up next to. Much later, it was the Egyptians that are credited with doing just this, thus creating the concept of “bed” as we know it.

Many bed types linger in the background, but never really go away. Bunk beds seem to suit children’s rooms and dormitory style living. The space saving ability makes them a great choice for tight living quarters. Daybeds can be used as a dual piece of furniture. It can be used as a seat by day and a bed by night. Futons also incorporate the daytime sitting space with a nighttime sleeping area..

Since then, styles have evolved to suit the times. Platform beds are not a new invention, but rather, a new twist on an old concept. The first platform beds were better defined as loft beds. The sleeping area was raised on four poles so that there would be space for everyday living activities below. As living became more luxurious, the beds became shorter. Presently, the Platform bed has seen a popularity revival.

The styles that are currently available utilize two main mediums, wood and metal. Sometimes the designer incorporates them and includes metal accents or leather in the bed design. The Platform bed may or may not encompass a footboard. The absence of the footboard contributes to the open-airiness that is meant to open a smaller bedroom. However, some people prefer the styles that include the footboard to further define their sleeping space. Another space defining style is the Platform bed with a canopy. Curtains may be hung around the perimeter of the bed to make the bed more private. If curtains are not desirable, fabric may be loosely draped to create a dreamy feel to the room. Organza or a light weave of cotton are great choices. The immortal Mission style furniture will never wane. Once exclusive to the dining room, Mission style is now integrated into the bedroom scenery.

Many different colors are also available. Dark finishes are sharp and defining, surely making the Platform bed the focus of the bedroom. White, or lighter finishes make a clean and crisp statement.

The versatility of a platform bed is priceless. Platform beds may or may not be used with a box spring. The wide variety in mattress choices also allows you to customize not only the look of your bed, but the comfort as well. A low profile Platform bed combined with a pillowtop mattress will eliminate the need for a boxspring, without sacrificing the height.

Whatever your style, the combinations are innumerable. You might choose coordinating finishes to match your Platform bed, or you can also mix and match finishes creating contrast and texture in your sleeping space. You can customize as you please, if you like it, it can’t be wrong.
